It’s about Owen Illinois, the greatest glass producer in the World with an annual production of 8 billion dollars that will install himself in Mendoza. The company’s representatives will meet with Celso Jaque.
Governor Celso Jaque met this morning with representatives of a North American glassmaker that claims to invest US$ 85 million in the province. Participants in the meeting include the Minister of Production Guillermo Migliozzi and the Director of the Investment Agency ProsperAr, Beatriz Nofal.
This investment is doubly important, first of all because we’re talking about 85 million dollars and more than 200 direct jobs; secondly, because it demonstrated confidence in the country and the province in an extremely difficult moment for finances on a world scale,
Guillermo Migliozzi and Beatriz Nofal synthesized to close the meeting the with the foreign investors.
Owen Illinois, the greatest glass maker in the world, with an annual production of 8 billion dollars, visited the Province for the second time to conclude details for the construction of a plant that will occupy a property of 100,000 square meters and will directly employ highly qualified labor.
This investment will permit, in addition to the generation of direct jobs, a multiplying effect for the economy of Mendoza, since it will be able to depend on higher quality and better prices in reference to glass bottles for producing wine, and greater movement in general, above all in logistic terms
The location of the project the department of San Rafael has been proposed, “for industrial development of this zone and for the policy established regarding the value of industrial parks that we are carrying out” argued Migliozzi; however, he clarified that “the businessmen have the last word and tomorrow (Wednesday the 22nd of October) they will tour the south of the province to observe what until now they have only seen on paper.” It is necessary to mention that the choice of the location depends, in greatest measure, on the proximity to the sites from which the raw materials for glass production come (special sands) and to the principal supply centers for the rest of the consumption.
The business’ retinue is composed by the vice president of the firm and the technicians responsible for the business and finance areas for Latin America. On his part, the Governor of Mendoza arranged a series of meetings with the different ministries in order to coordinate actions in accordance with the policies that are being carried out in energetic, legal and tax matters, among other aspects.
“This phase of definition”—added Nofal—“is the consequence of the work to articulate itself that the province has accomplished on a local and national level in order to facilitate better decision making on the part of investors; in this sense the Agency ProsperAr and the Ministry of Production have worked like a mirror in the coordination of activities.”
